Randy Brooks

Randy Brooks moved to Joplin, MO in 2005, "Best move I ever made" he says. He was born in Arkansas and raised in
the southern part of Missouri. "I grew up on a farm and my parents were depression era folks, so we always raised our own livestock and gardens....things like that."
He is a tutored pianist and plays a little of every instrument but loves guitar. "I picked my first one up when I was about 18 and have never wanted to play anything else since," he says.  He has tried to make music his life but says, "It unfortunately doesn't pay the bills so great....thank goodness for radio!" Randy has worked in radio since 1989 in a wide variety of formats but says that country is his favorite. "It just seems more American than anything else out there. If given my choice it will always be country."

He just passed his test for his 4th degree black belt in Kobayashi Shorin-Ryu which is an Okinawan style of martial arts, and has been practicing that style since the age of 14. Most of his martial arts practice these days is with his three daughters, one of which is a 3rd degree black belt; one is a 2nd degree. "You ought to see the fights at my house!" he says.

He is contributes vocals and guitars to 99for1 which is a Contemporary Christian band that plays locally.

"I love KIX," Randy says, " Getting to get up every morning and do a show like Morning KIX is the best job in the world. The folks in the Four-States area are great people who make each day more fun than the last."
